Introducing the Gärtopf Fermenting Crock Pot to the UK! This unique fermenting system is the ultimate for the production of healthy, unpasteurised (raw) fermented vegetables such as sauerkraut and kimchii. Shop-bought commercially produced fermented food is almost always pasteurised, which means that the beneficial bacteria are killed off during the pasteurisation process. The pot is designed with a unique deep, water-holding trough in the rim which forms an air-tight seal with the lid, thus enabling the vegetables to ferment without the risk of contamination, whilst still allowing the gases produced during fermentation to bubble away. No scum is formed! The crocks are solid earthenware, individually hand made, and are coated with a lead-free glaze. Each crock comes with two semi-circular weighting stones that are placed on top of the fermenting vegetables to give the required pressure needed for fermentation. continued -> | |||
